Itinerary for Photography Tour in Hanoi - Mu Cang Chai

Day 1 · Ha Noi

Journey to Hanoi's incense village for an early morning photo shoot. Capture vibrant red incense drying in sunlight, a surreal landscape. Witness artisans in traditional dress amidst colorful fields, offering rich compositions of Vietnamese life. This visually stunning location provides striking portraits, textures, and storytelling images. Conclude your photographic adventure in the afternoon, rich with memories. Day 2 · Ha Noi

Experience Hanoi's artistic heart. Photograph the Ceramic Road's intricate tilework bathed in morning light. Journey to a traditional soy sauce village, capturing the aroma and age-old fermentation techniques. Document bamboo fishing trap craftsmen weaving intricate designs, showcasing a deep connection to tradition and nature. This day offers rich textures, vibrant colors, and compelling cultural narratives, from ceramics to culinary crafts and artisanal weaving. We return to our 5-star hotel each evening.

Day 3 · Ha Noi - Phu Tho

South of Hanoi, capture morning scenes: women sewing fishing nets and drying colorful sedge for traditional mats. In the afternoon, explore historic Duong Lam village. Photograph ancient homes, weathered architecture, and candid daily life moments. Engage with locals for authentic stories. This day offers a visual narrative of Vietnam's serene countryside and rich cultural heritage. Lodging: Muong Thanh Luxury Hotel or similar.

Day 4 · Phu Tho - Mu Cang Chai

Departing Hanoi at dawn, we photograph the golden light illuminating the rolling hills of Long Coc tea plantations. Our journey continues to Mu Cang Chai for its iconic terraced rice fields. Late afternoon brings us to Tu Le valley to capture the day's final light and a breathtaking sunset over the lush landscape. All nights are spent at the 5-star Garrya resort in Mu Cang Chai.

Day 5 · Mu Cang Chai

Witness sunrise at Mam Xoi viewpoint, bathing Mu Cang Chai’s terraces in golden light. Visit a local home showcasing rustic charm with drying corn. Explore further breathtaking rice terraces, revealing a mesmerizing patchwork of green against mountains. This journey offers a true visual feast, highlighting the beauty and heritage of Mu Cang Chai. Discover stunning landscapes and authentic rural life.

Day 6 · Mu Cang Chai

Capture the sunrise over Lao Chai's cascading rice terraces as soft morning light illuminates the landscape. Experience daily life within a traditional H'Mong home, observing golden corn. After lunch, photograph the breathtaking, tiered terraces, showcasing tradition. At sunset, frame the "Horse-shoe" terraces, capturing the final light dancing on this natural masterpiece. Day 7 · Mu Cang Chai - Ha Noi

Following a journey through Mu Cang Chai's golden rice terraces, we returned to Hanoi. The scenic drive allowed reflection on the week's beauty. By afternoon, we arrived at Noi Bai International Airport, concluding the expedition. Heartfelt goodbyes were shared, leaving us with cherished memories of this extraordinary adventure. This final leg captured lingering light on majestic landscapes before reaching the urban departure point.

Hi all,
I’ll be departing back to the U.S in a few hours. After some days and some thoughts, I’ve decided to write a review of the tour.

First and foremost, thank you to Viet for offering this opportunity for the public and for people who wants to experience the beautiful country of Vietnam through the lens of a camera. I’ve been thinking about this tour for quite some time now and finally made it happen. I couldn’t asked for anyone better than Viet with this tour. He met my expectations with his knowledge and expertise.

Pros: From the timeline to the itinerary, the tour was exactly how it was planned out. I like how it was organized and planned accordingly. I felt like it was not rushed. We had time before and after our photoshoot. During our photoshoot, we spent enough time at the scene to get what we wanted. Viet is an experienced photographer who was willing to help and advise when needed.

Cons: As things come with some positive, there’s always some negative. With that said, I felt like our resort in Mu Cang Chai was too far away from our photo spots. While the hotel was nice, we don’t spend a lot of time there and I felt like staying at a closer hotel would be more suitable even if we had to stay at a lower rated place or pay more for a top rated place. Also, I would like to try different restaurants each day when we were in Mu Cang Chai.

Overall, it was a great experience. It was worth every penny spent and more. The biggest gain from this tour was the friendship I’ve made. I had an amazing time with Viet, Leo, and Sabine. All who contribute and helped me on this chapter in my photography journey. You all inspired me to become better. This photography tour and experience holds a special place in my heart as it’s my first time doing a solo trip and a photography tour. I would recommend this tour for any photographer of all levels. I can’t thank everyone enough and the memories will always live with me for the rest of my life. Thank you Viet, and thank you Leo and Sabine. I wish the best for you all.
